Advancing the Internship period - BU batches

We often criticise the BU curriculum and examination policies, however today we have an opportunity to benefit from it. Mr. Nithyanandan suggested that we intern when nobody else does and thereby increase the chances of making an impact or getting recruited by the firms / LPOs / companies. He also suggested that we stay a season ahead from the other law schools and capitalise on it since they have a fixed academic schedule.

It has been noticed that a few Tier - I & II law schools intern in October / November. So what do you think about advancing our internship break to August - September?

Please post your comments.

Looks good to me! I'm fine with advancing our internship period to August-September.

it sounds sensible but i dont know how much it is actually going to work out. I mean leaving the semester in between and then again coming back to it sounds something the management probably wont agree to.

The management can be taken care off. What is more important is that we stand together and pitch in the same view!

I think we should do something about the 2nd and 1st years too. Because the only time we can do an internship is in the summer and unfortunately the courts are closed for a majority of that period.

This is totally depriving us of an opportunity to intern with lawyers of either High Courts or Supreme Courts.

I had raised this issue with Prof. Jose Verghese and he said that something could be done in this regard. Now that he has left, I think we should speak with the management and make them understand our situation. Anyone in for this?

there should not be any disruptions or changes in the existing schedule.

The trick is to consider yourself Tier 1. I am against the non assertive status of identity here

Its not our perception of ourselves but that of the law firm's that going to matter....They aren't going to consider us tier one until we have some very solid credentials to show as a batch.
